We rolled dice a lot over the weekend. The only reason I mention it is because Danny Mayer was saying that he was going to try to throw down a kickflip mctwist in his contest run (which has never been done). He makes them in best trick contests but this time he wanted to step it up. In the contest you get three runs so we figured he'd try it in his third run. Well his first run was decent but he fell. So before his second run he looks up at us in the judges booth, yells Muldoons name and made the motion with his hands like he was rolling dice right before he dropped in.

He did a couple set up airs and then went for the kickflip 5. It looked kinda fucked up from the start but he set it down - but on his way down the tranny he ate shit harder than anyone I've seen in a long time. He went backwards and snapped his neck with his head hitting the flatbottom. People ran down to see if he was okay. At least he had a bad concussion but Danny is tough so eventually he got up and walked away. Dooner turned to me and said 'looks like he rolled a 1-2-3'.

Needless to say when Danny's third run came around there he was standing on the platform ready to try it again. I didn't even want to watch. So he tried it again and didn't make it but right after the actual contest was the 'best trick' contest and the second they announced it's official start Danny flew up the ramp and landed the cleanest kickflip mctwist you can imagine. It really was beautiful. He was stoked but there were a lot of guys there that were gunning for the money (10k for 1st I think).

Sandro started trying 900's, Bob was trying switch McTwists, and Bucky was trying nollie flip 5's. So Danny started trying varial kickflip 5's. He had already slammed twice harder than a lot of pros slam in their entire careers but he kept climbing back up the stairs. Well about halfway through the contest Danny tried it one more time. Up the ramp, varial flip, caught, he spins 540 and sets it down. But this time on his way down the ramp something went really, really wrong. His back foot came off so it sorta stuck on the ramp spinning Danny around and throwing him face first into the surface. He slid like a sack of walnuts to the flatbottom and instantly people rushed to his side.

We couldn't really see what was going on until Bob Burnquist slid down next to him with a really freaked out look on his face. He then started picking up teeth off the flat. He turned towards us and held them up and they were like whole teeth. Roots and all. He hit so hard that his front two teeth ripped right out of his gums. When he came to he saw the medic above him and he said 'how bad is it?'. The medic told him he had knocked his two front teeth out and Danny said, 'Oh, word? I thought I knocked them all out!'

So the ambulance comes and by that time Danny had already gotten up, smiled as he gave the finger to the cameras, and walked back up the ramp. He looked like absolute shit when he came back down and went to the hospital. They grabbed his teeth and put them in milk. Dooner and I were literally sick to our stomachs. I almost thought we should just call the contest but there was a lot of money on the line so it had to go on. Sandro ended up winning with a 900 over a large channel and Danny got second with the original kickflip 5 he did.
