Q: What's your full name?
A: Chad James Benson
Where are you from?
A: Rochester MN
Q: When did you start skateboarding?
A: about 12 years ago or something like that
Q: Who are your sponsors?
A: Iota Skateboards, Supernatural Clothing, Fobia Skateshop, DC Shoes, and
Clive Backpacks
Q: Who do you like to skate with?
A: Ryan Hansen, Dan Jackson, Josh Holtan, and all my friends.
Q: Do you think it's possible to stay in Minnesota and be a professional
skater?
A: I hope so. With the way things are now the midwest is just starting to
get the coverage it deserves, and the skaters from here will be able to be
part of the industry without being forced to move out west.
Q: Likes / Dislikes about the Minneapolis skate scene.
A: like the fact that all the skatespots aren't beat up from thousands of
skaters, and most of my friends live here.dislike the fact tht the scene
can sometimes be too small. By this I mean people are too worried about who
is doing what.
Q: Your tight with Fobia- how did you guys all get to know each other?
A:All of us have been skating Minneapolis for so long that after a while
you just get to know each other. And after you start talking to each other
you find out that skating is such a common bond that you just become friends.
Q: Do you have a philosophy on switch skating?
A: The way I see it, switch just doubles the amout of tricks that can be
done on a skateboard. It is just fun for me to try tricks both stances.
Q: Do you like skating in contests?
A: I like contests for the hype that comes with them.It is so fun to
skate with your friends when you are all trying to do the hardest tricks you
can.For this reason I seem to like the warm up time more than the contest.
I don't like the judging in contests.Too often a street contest is judged
as a miniramp contest with some banks thrown in for fun.
Q: Got a girlfriend?
A: yes her name is Tara Staven (TJS)
Q: Ever been arrested?
A: nope
Q: What to you think of the rollerblade scene?
A: I try not to
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A:Finish my video part for Benji's new video.Work on Iota as much as
possible, becauseI want to be part of a company that is all about the scene
in the Midwest.I will also be having fun riding my skateboard.
Q: Last Words?
A:Thanks to Joe, Dan, Derek, Rob, all my friends, and to Tara for
understanding why I am gone riding a toy all the time.
