I've known Clint since he was a young lad and I've seen him do some crazy shit. Most of the time I don't think he realizes how hard what he's doing is. So after he tells me this it's like an early Christmas gift. I ran over to Dooner and told him that Clint is claiming a kickflip into the deep end with a one-footed warm up. Dooner looked at me and says 'the scary thing is that I believe it'. And then he said 'I bet he makes the one foot in one try'. About 10 seconds later he was right. Pop. Foot off. Land. Roll away. What the fuck. So now I know what's coming next. He waits on the platform for his next turn. Then he rolls along slowly on the platform and goes for it. The first few attempts were shakey, followed by a few slams, and then pop, flip, catch, roll away. Everyone was seriously dumbstruck. He just ollie kickflipped turning frontside into a vert bowl padless. Unreal. I kinda blew my wad already for this article but I don't care. It was rad. But the whole event was a lot of fun. It was rad to see all the older guys coming down to check out the park and the skating. There are so many skaters now compared to 10 or 20 years ago that it's hard to comprehend. I'm glad it's still growing and I hope it's still producing as many kooks as it has to this point. Like Nate Reiman who begged Muldoon to slap him over and over and after he did Nate retaliated with a sucker punch to Dooner's dome while he was walking away. Now that I think of it some chick spit in Dooner's face too. He had a rough night. Or like the Badger who earlier in the day was watching the young kids rip the bowl (Mr. Braces, Tom Beggs, Max, etc) and he pulls out a beer & starts drinking it in front of the kids and their parents and everything. And when Steve Gareri walked up to him and saw what he was doing Badger told him 'No, Steve, it's cool. I'm 25'. Or Turkey trying frontside 5-0's in the deep end and taking hard slams followed by him punching the top of his board until his hands blead. Then there's Glen Jones chugging tequila and then trying crailslides into the deep end before it kicks in. There's just too much to mention. But it was a super fun night. When I walked in I got a board from the shop and had as many heads as I could sign it. I've got a collection of Minnesota skateboarding stuff and I wanted to take advantage of the situation. Everyone on this list has influenced both myself and the local skateboarding scene immensely. From the pioneers to the modern pros, I'm proud to know you all. And if I spell your name wrong or something stupid please send me an email correction…
